Cosplay Chronicles

Cosplay Chronicles is an exhibition that brings together contemporary craftsmanship and cultural expression through the art of cosplay. The exhibition features costumes created by nine of Sweden’s most talented cosplayers, shown alongside historical garments from the museum’s collection.

The exhibition highlights the immense artistry, skill, and dedication behind each cosplay creation — positioning cosplay as a form of contemporary craft and artistic practice. Developed in close collaboration with Sweden’s cosplay community, including veteran cosplayer Linn Eriksson, Närcon, and local youth in Nyköping, the project aimed to present the subculture from within: from the cosplayers’ own perspectives while remaining accessible to a broader audience.

The exhibition opened to over 600 visitors and received media attention from SVT Nyheter Sörmland, SVT Nyhetsmorgon, Landet runt, and Hemslöjd magazine.
